Hackthorn Church
The Anglican parish church at Hackthorn is an impressive Victorian Gothic church dedicated to St Michael and All Angels. It lies among the trees and parkland overlooking a lake near Hackthorn Hall. An earlier church on this site (mentioned in the Doomsday Book of 1086) has gone but it's replacement dating from 1844-9 was rebuilt from many of the same stones and was built at the expense of Robert Cracroft of Hackthorn Hall, of Charles Mainwaring, the lay rector (who was also the architect), and by public subscription

At Hackthorn village, we parked in a field, here seen at the back of the photo and walked past the end of the lake where the local mallard ducks put on a parade for us.
